The Dragon Braver Chapter Prologue

The Beginning

 It is the year 2020, deforestation on Earth has driven all animals to near extinction. On one fateful day, a group of lions was resting when a group of hunters appeared out of nowhere. The lions started running when shots were fired by these hunters. Three out of five were shot dead, while two remained on the run. The chase went on until both lions, the father and the son reached to the far end of a cliff. With nowhere to run, the hunters in their jeeps caught up with them. Four hunters leapt out from their jeep, smirking. One of them said, "Well, well. You two sure got us chasing. Wasting our gas like that, we're going to make sure we have some fun first." Another hunter then said, "Hey, better watch it, we don't wanna ruin the skin. It'd be all for nothin' if their fur is bad." The first hunter replied, "Don't worry 'bout it!" and fired a shot right between the eyes of the lion cub, killing it immediately. The adult lion watched helplessly as his son fell. He looked directly towards the hunters in anger and let out a huge roar. A third hunter then aimed his rifle and pulled the trigger, hitting the lion at one of his hind legs. The lion tried to retaliate by trying to rush towards the hunters but it was too late as another shot was already fired, and this time the bullet stroke his heart. As the lion was near the edge when it happened, he lost his balance and fell into the river down below.

A few days has passed, the lion is washed downstream on to the riverbed barely alive. Soon night falls, and as the lion was about to let out his last breath, a dark red light shines down from the sky. A mysterious figure appeared. The being was shrouded in darkness, only a silhouette of what appears to be humanoid can be made out from all the darkness. The mysterious being stood in front of the lion, and asked, with a voice incomprehensible from a gender perspective, "Do you want revenge?" The lion did not answer as he was too weak but by the look on his eyes, the anger and determination has made it clear that he desired vengeance. "Good, swear your loyalty to me and I will grant you vengeance, and the rule of this planet." the mysterious being continued. Without any doubt, with his final ounce of strength lifted his paw in allegiance and died. "Don't worry, I will give you all the power that you desire. Wreak havoc upon the humans." The mysterious being raised its hand, palm opened wide and aimed towards the deceased lion. An invisible wave is emitted from its hand, slowly covering the body of the lion. Lightning began to strike violently in the vicinity, all the refugee animals in the forest came out to look at the sky instead of hiding as though they knew that something significant was about to happen.

Meanwhile, at a nearby army base, personnel are noticing this irregular phenomenon and report to the base leader. At the general's camp. "Sir, something odd is happening at the nearby forest. Irregular lightning strikes are being reported." The general replied, "What, you came here in the middle of the night because you saw some lightning strikes?Major, do you know that I've got other more important matters to attend to?" he added. "But sir, these strikes are only appearing at one specific area and the intensity is rapidly increasing." the major replied. The general upon hearing this decided to send in a team to investigate.

Back at the epicenter of this, the lightning ceased suddenly. Pulsing waves began emitting from the lion as if a beating heart. The waves increase in travelling distance the longer they pulse, tremors can be felt in the meantime across the entire planet. Oceans shook violently, tsunamis hit the lands and destroyed cities. After a while the tremors stopped, the pulsing waves traveled in reverse and returned to the epicenter where the lion lied. The body of the lion then shone brightly, litting up the dark sky. An energy wave is released from the bright light. Soon, the bright light subsided, a humanoid creature emerged. The creature stood on two legs, but had limbs that resembled a lion. It is covered in gold fur, the face revealed. It was indeed the lion, he gained a new form given by the mysterious being. The lion looked at himself, and asked, "What happened to me?" The lion spoke, and gained human intelligence. "How am I talking???" he added. "How else are you supposed to fight the humans?" the mysterious being answered cheekily. "Not only have I granted you human intelligence and form, you now possess unlimited power." In order to clarify, the lion tested his newly granted power. With just one arm, he uprooted a giant tree from the gournd, and threw it into the sky. The mysterious being gave a sly remark, "How feeble, I guess you are still just an earth creature after all."

At the wrong place at the wrong time, the team that was sent out by the general arrived at the scene. They shone their flashlights at the lion. "What the hell is that???" one soldier shouted. "Who cares, fire! fire!" the team leader ordered. Shots were fired, the lion lifted his hands to block the bullets due to reflex but soon realized that those shots did nothing to him, not even a scratch as they bounce off of him effortlessly. The lion than said, "Humans, all of them are the same." The shots never ceased as he slowly walked towards the soldiers. The soldiers then switched to grenade launchers, they hit right on target. Although the grenades exploded but they did nothing to phase the lion's advance. Seeing that they clearly were at a disadvantage, the sergeant issued a retreat and to call for backup. It was too late however, the lion in an instant leaped right in front of these soldiers, grabbed one of them and tore his head off. Before they could react, grabbed another soldier and split her in half. The rest of the team shouted, and scattered in fear but unfortunately there was nothing they could do as they watched each other get brutally killed by the lion.

After taking out the last soldier, the lion remarked, "Rest in pieces." The lion thanked the mysterious being but was concerned that he may not be able to fight the entire human population because he was alone. The mysterious being said, "Who said anything about you fighting alone? Look behind you."

P.S. Welcome to my blog where I'll be posting my online story that I have going on in my head for the longest time. Now that I've got the time, I've decided to realize it so that everyone can read, and hopefully give me some ideas, and criticism. I'll try to post one chapter per week, hopefully (these things take time).
